News corpse : the antidote to mass media

This advertising has been made by news corps which is a famous website which underline the media decay.
The name news corpse come from the famous media conglomerates : News corporation which is manage by Rupert Murdoch, a millionaire.(see article : Rupert murdoch and his confession about the Irak war )
some keys of understanding :

swallow : drink, deglutition
the act of swallowing; "one swallow of the liquid was enough"; "he took a drink of his beer and smacked his lips"
mainstream is, generally, the common current of thought of the majority.

Media manipulation in history : The example of COVENTRY

During World War II, the allies found out the enigma code, a code used by the germans to communicate about their future actions.
But the fact that the allies knew this code had to be protected by any ways, even if it dealed with hundreds of people!
Indeed, Winston Churchill allegedly refused to evacuate cities like Coventry because it would have revealed to the Germans that their codes were no longer secure.
To protect this secret, of course no media was informed about that, because if any journalist had revealed that, maybe it would have changed history ( we know today that
the sacrifice of Coventry permitted the Normandy landings, because the Germans didn't know that the allies knew the codes, the allies thus knew what the Germans planned to do!)
Churchill at the time told his cabinet, in a slightly different context: "The truth is so precious that it must be protected by a bodyguard of lies."

I think this example is good to show that the media manipulation could be found everywhere even during the war!

Rupert Murdoch, his confessions about the war in Irak

Rupert Murdoch is the chairman and the director of News Corporation. News corporation is the largest media conglomerates in the world. Rupert Murdoch owns 29 % of the capital and more than the half of the votes on the board of directors, so he is de facto the decision maker.
A man owns one of the largest media company in the world. Do you think that we can accept that?

“I challenge anybody to show me an example of bias in Fox News Channel.”
— Rupert Murdoch (Salon, 3/1/01)

this quote means that Fox News Chanel has a objective point of view.

the 2/03/2007 there was the World Economic Forum in Davos (Switzerland) Murdoch sayd that his company was faced to a loss of power because of the internet and the arrival of the new media.

And then when somebody asked him if "News Corps had managed to shape the agenda on the Irak war", he answers :

“No, I don’t think so. We tried.” “We basically supported the Bush policy in the Middle East…but we have been very critical of his execution.”

Can you repeat ? WE TRIED

Behind this quote we can see the exposure of the propaganda during the Irak war

News Corps tried to have a bias on the decision maker about the Irak War

This example is a sure sign that Fox News Chanel is manipulated.

This article is complementary to the article about the Irak War and the misperceptions.
Indeed, the other article underlines that 80 % of the respondent had misperceptions about the Irak war.

Subliminal messages

A subliminal message is a signal or message included in an other, designed to pass below the limits of the human mind's perception. These messages are unrecognizable by the conscious mind, but in certain situations can affect the subconscious mind and can negatively or positively influence it later through behaviors, actions, attitudes.

Misperceptions, the Media and the Iraq War

An article has been written by the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA)about "Misperceptions, The Media and The Iraq War." It has been showed 3 misperceptions about the Iraq War. We are going to examinate what have said American Medias about these 3 points. They are :

· Iraq was directly involved in the September 11 attacks : a link between Al-Qaeda and Iraq has been established.
· Iraq was using weapons of mass destruction during the war.
· World public opinion has approved that US go to war in Iraq.

We can see on this document that the misperceptions are significantly showed differently between medias. Fox news give more misperceptions, and people who watch NPR or PBS has less manipulated.

One more thing : People who want to vote for Bush follow medias. And at the same support the Iraq war. And at the opposite, people for a Democratic nominee are not looking very much to the television.
It shows that the medias vehiculate a good image of Bush and the Iraq war...
